PBIS/Bullying Prevention

POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS

As we seek to fulfill our district vision to be "a community of excellence," our work to provide all students a positive environment for learning is ongoing. Our Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) program at Upton Elementary uses Upton ROCKS to promote positive behavior throughout our building. Our ROCK Star program serves as a means of teaching and supporting our students as they develop the following skills:

  • Responsibility
  • Open Mindedness
  • Cooperation
  • Kindness
  • Self-Control

On a regular basis, our staff members teach students specific applications for these behaviors in different areas of our school. Click to see our matrix that provides applications of these behaviors across our building. Our building PBIS Committee meets monthly to monitor and support the implementation of PBIS at Upton.

BULLYING PREVENTION

Bullying Prevention is integrated in our PBIS program. Along with our lessons that teach students to be "ROCK Stars," students at Upton are taught specific Bully Prevention strategies.

Our District Policy on Bullying is Policy 5517.01; it may be reviewed by following the link to our district policies available on our website. District level support for our building PBIS and Bully Prevention programs includes special services staff that are available to support program development and to assist us in specific situations.
