Mr. Watson

About Me

I grew up in San Diego, California and moved out here to attend the University of Michigan. After graduation, I moved to Royal Oak to teach Elementary Music in Royal Oak Schools, starting at Upton in 2020 and Addams in 2021.

I aim to cultivate an environment in my classroom where all students feel valued, included, and safe enough to express their authentic selves. Through our music curriculum, students will hone their creativity, learn to take creative risks, respect the art of cultures outside of their own, and work collaboratively to create musical art.

Throughout the year, the students will sing songs, play instruments, play games, and learn/talk about important music from around the world. We will also talk about heroes of music- musicians who used their artistry to affect change in their communities.

In addition to our weekly class meetings, each student in grade 1-5 will perform with their grade-level classmates in an evening concert. All are invited to attend!

Outside of school, I am a classically trained trombonis and enjoy freelance playing and teaching lessons. I enjoy spending time with friends, baking bread and sweets, and taking my dog on long walks in nature. Go Blue!
